Dr. Samuel Baker, Tenor, is based in Minneapolis, where he sings as an ensemble, operatic, and solo singer. He sings with the Norsound Tenors, Minnesota Chorale, Minnesota Opera Chorus, Border CrosSing, and other small ensembles throughout the twin cities.
Sam recently returned to his alma mater, the University of Minnesota as a professional guest artist, to sing Count Belfiore from La Finta Giardiniera. With Colorado's Opera Steamboat, he sang Don Ottavio from Don Giovanni, and The Moon from Jonathan Dove's The Enchanted Pig; and with One Voice Mixed Chorus, he made his "Soprano" debut performing a gender-swapped Mabel from Pirates of Penzance.
Sam has been praised as having a "mastery of the passaggio" and a "bright and sunny tone" that "lights up the stage", and strives to put as much energy into acting as he does his voice.
With a busy holiday schedule, often all the way up to a Christmas Eve midnight service, Sam finds time to fly home to visit family in Dallas, Texas on Christmas day.
"He's flying home on Christmas day, on Christmas day in the morning!"
